Some local by laws may apply to your local council authority area. For example, in Toowoomba Queensland, the Toowoomba Regional Council no longer governs the protection of trees located on private property unless it is part of a development application.
Heritage Listed properties may also have vegetation that needs to be protected for historical purposes. If your property is Heritage listed, you need to contact Dept of Environmental and Heritage Protection for advice.
